DSSi Methodologies

Given the diversity, complexity, and increasing inter-relatedness of the world, no one methodology is adequate to the task of study and analysis. At DSSi, we employ a spectrum of methodologies—from highly technical and quantitative analyses to sociological methods and perceptual tools—to appropriately and effectively quantify and qualify process, representation, and structure of the systems we model. We have enhanced reliable methods, and developed a number of highly effective proprietary approaches to analyze and test organizational fitness within the context of globalization. They include:

   Technical Analysis

  • Operations research & operation analysis
  • Structured analysis
  • Object- oriented analysis
  • Information theory
  • Dependency analysis & consequence analysis

   Economic & Financial Analysis

  • Micro- & macro-economics
  • Network analysis
  • Risk models
  • Value models
  • Game theory

  Socio-economic Analysis

  • Demographic analysis & domain affinities
  • Cultural anthropology
  • General systems theory
  • Cybernetics
  • Complexity & emergent system analysis
  • Psychological profiling
  • Epidemiology

   Open-source Intelligence Analysis

  • Triangulation
  • Single-outcome probability analysis
  • Bayesian iterative reassessment
  • Continuum probability analysis
  • Dependency analysis

   Semantic and Semiotic Analysis

   Cross-specialty Helmer-Dalkey Delphi Pools

We complement technical analyses with sociological methods to ensure that the model does not lose touch with the system under study. Similarly, we recognize that economic models suffer from being pure or near-approximations of quantitative representations, since the world is not purely numeric, and most metrics rest on assumptions that are arbitrary. We pay particular attention to the sourcing of information, as decision support is only as good as one's input.
